It Takes a Lifestyle Change

Despite the best efforts of faulty rationale, misguided hopes, erroneous advice, and gimmicky sales pitches, the ONLY surefire way to lose weight- and keep it off- is adhering to the 3 pillars of "fit".   Some type of resistance training (preferably intense), a sound, healthy diet, and cardio(preferably high intensity intervals) will ensure calorie burn and continual fitness.

The weight loss diets, even the most sensible ones, will not KEEP weight off unless you regularly lift weights and perform some type of cardio activity- even if the cardio is used minimally to get the blood flowing and help the muscles recover.  A "diet", which usually consists more of attractive sales or catchy marketing ploys (unfortunately its all about money right?), will usually work temporarily IF the person has the discipline to follow the meal/plan guidelines.  And there are many diets out there that can accomplish this.

What everybody needs to understand- and its not rocket science- is that the diet only goes so far if you're not complementing it with a barbell, dumbbell, jump rope, an open road, a treadmill, a squat rack, a plyometric pushup, a crossfit WOD-- whatever u fancy... but the other two parts, along WITH the diet, produce long lasting results that are extremely beneficial-- the muscle added through resistance training is metabolically expensive, and will burn calories at a much higher rate than excess body fat.

Remember to stay in anabolism, or a muscle building/maintenance state, the trainee needs to EAT continually throughout the day- quality calories, healthy fats, protein, and yes, carbohydrates (beans, vegetables, oatmeal, fruit... fibrous carbs).
